Abstract

This paper aims to explore the multidimensional representation of womanhood in Arundhati Roy's The Ministry of Utmost Happiness and Louise Erdrich's The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse. By investigating the lived experiences, identities and spiritual journeys of the central female and gender-divers characters. The main objective of the paper is to highlight how both the authors exceed traditional gender narratives to build a nuanced, intersectional and often revolutionary vision of womanhood. Drawing from feminist and postcolonial frameworks, the paper unloads how trauma, resilience, faith and social exclusion shape these portrayals.
